Created by the 1988 Federal Constitution, the Superior Tribunal for Justice (STJ) is the court that is responsible for the standardization and interpretation of the Federal law throughout Brazil, following the constitutional principles and the assurance and defense of the State of Law. The STJ is the final word in Brazilian Justice for unconstitutional cases that are not directly related to the constitution. Like an instrument for convergence for common justice, it evaluates arising cases from any part of the national territory, on all jurisdictional sides that are not specialized.
