Founded in the city of Sao Paulo in 1977, the Brazilian Society for Interdisciplinary Studies in Communication attained national prestige international legitimacy for its diverse consistent and coherent work in the sense of consolidating the academic discipline of communication. It is part of the national network of scientific societies headed by the SBPC- Brazilian Society for the Progress of Science- and part of the global network headed by the IAMCR – International Association for Media and Communication Research. It also maintains contact with the AEJMC- Association For Education in Journalism and Mass Communication and with the ICA – International Communication Association.
