Latin American Knowledge Harvester >
These are collections of structured abstracts of carefully selected and seminal works in the area of Latin American social medicine. The abstracts are provided in Portuguese, Spanish and English and point to the original sources. Social medicine is concerned with society and the individual’s capacity to mobilize resources to improve well-being by understanding and addressing the social aspects of people’s lives that impact upon their health, their exposure to illness and illness-producing behaviors, including the global forces that cause or contribute to disease or prevent its amelioration. This work is developed in a UNM partnership association among the UNM Libraries, the Health Sciences Library & Informatics Center (HSLIC), the Latin American and Iberian Institute (LAII), and the Centro Universitario de Ciencias de la Salud (CUCS), University of Guadalajara, Mexico. It is supported in part by a grant from the Technological Innovation and Cooperation for Foreign Information Access (TICFIA) program of the U.S. Department of Education. Collections in this community
